I am beyond excited that I had the opportunity to capture one of my favorite artists from a more personal angle. I wanted to really capture something raw, something unique breaking away from the normal concert videos I always see. I wanted to find a moment that really shows who Post Malone is; something that shows his real character. Some backstory: A couple months ago, I saw Post Malone clip off the stage into the crowd after his set at Coachella. It was an awesome moment of love that happened so unexpectedly. In the last few years, you could see the genuine appreciation he has for his fans and the success he's had the fortune to discover against so many obstacles. Recently, I happened to have an earlier opportunity to film near the stage he would be performing on, and was given permission to film throughout the show. I spent the show waiting to capture something raw, I didn’t know at the time what that would be. Then the stars aligned right at the end as I was finishing up filming and the show was ending. "Congratulations" was the last song and was coming to an end. And just as I was just getting ready to put my camera away, I heard screams of excitement coming from the crowd. I walked around the big screen I was behind, to see Post coming down the stage towards the crowd. It hit me. This is the moment I instantly remembered Coachella. This was the raw shot I wanted! I ran towards the front stage to jump off right after him, ducking a few security guards and landed in the mud, rain pouring down like we were in the shower. For a second I considered the gear I was using: a Sony A7s2 on the Dji Ronin; all expensive equipment I use every day for work. It was risky but I couldn't pass up this chance to capture the moment. So I was committed. Making my way through the crowd (Post had a head start), the screaming fans signaled where he was, then the sea of people parted and there he was! An incredible shot emerged from that risk : Post Malone soaking wet walking through the mud touching as many hands as possible. In order to capture it all and show every angle I framed myself up to him. It was a little tough because I was walking backwards in the mud in a huge crowd of "die hard" fans constantly looking back and watching my feet as to not trip, totally trusting my Dji Ronin to keep the shot stable. During this balancing act some kid, I have no clue who he was, came up behind me. All i heard was "I got you man" and then he grabbed my shirt and guided me through the crowd allowing me to focus on the filming! Whoever you are bro if you're reading this THANK YOU! It was the coolest shot I've captured in my career... Completely RAW and of my favorite artist. I always say "if you want to do something in life.. just do it". In the end, I got the shot.... After, Post made his way back stage all the way to a van waiting for him and he left. Show over. I'm so stoked to show you guys this video. It's an amazing feeling to create something for people to enjoy that is truly from the heart, Im hoping this video makes its way to Post and he likes it. My goal in life is to make epic visual works of art to be enjoyed by millions and working with Post Malone they would be seen by millions.. Please share this, share it with your friends and family all the support helps!
Over the past months I've been exploring different parts of the Western US. Places that have inspired me for as long as I can remember. I brought my camera along of course! I've been collecting footage the whole time unsure of exactly what I would do with it. I can remember so many moments I saw the footage I had just shot while standing on a cliff in the Grand Canyon and would feel excited but nervous at the same time. Shooting videos like this is my passion but I get caught up with other video projects its seems like theres no time. In order to do great thing you have to go to great measures, Balancing other projects and this one I have been sleeping very little, but the feeling of simply amazing. The feeling of sharing my creations with everyone is a thrill that Im addicted to. It keeps me pushing harder and dreaming bigger. Some of the locations you'll see here are Grand Canyon, Utah (near Zion National Park),Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California. These were some of the most incredible experiences of my life
